She's here!!!

Georgia Catherine Pedigo is Here!

I'll be sure to post more details and pictures later, but for now in short here's the good stuff!

Georgia Catherine Pedigo
Born February, Friday 13, 2009 at 2:32am
Weighed 8 pounds and 10 ounces and 21 inches long.

We were planned to be induced on Friday morning but my water broke Thursday afternoon which ended up with me being hooked up to pitocin for over 5 hours. The labor never progressed and we decided to take her via C-Section. All is well and we're just "resting", feeding, changing diapers, feeding... changing diapers and loving on our little girl!

Thanks everyone for your love and support!

40 Week Appointment

Well today is miss Georgia's due date and she still seems happy as can be in her mommies tummy!

Here are the stats:
Dilated: 2cm
Effacement: 80%
Station - 1
Blood Pressure: A little high
Sugars and Protein: N/A

So my membranes have officially been stripped THREE times in the last week... YUCK! And still no progress. So if Georgia doesn't come in the next few days... Friday (yes the 13th) we go in at 6am (don't they know I sleep in!) to be induced. YIKES!

Normally this wouldn't faze me but I'm a little scared as far was G's size goes. She's measuring on the big side and because this is my first baby my Dr says I have an uncertain pelvis, meaning she doesn't know how it will react to a big baby.

So here are the probabilities:
We go in get induced and she's born just fine!
Induced and her head is delivered but could have shoulder dysplasia (Not good).
Induced and labor doesn't progress and we go in for a C-Section.

So needless to say I'm a little nervous! It's nice to know now the "day" that she'll be here, but it's also a little scary not knowing how and what the delivery hold for both her and myself.

I know God has it under control but because she is so big there leave a lot of uncertainty of how things might go.

We'll bring the computer in hopes to keep the blog updated but can't promise anything!

We would greatly appreciate any prayers that John and I have peace during the whole induction and that both Georgia and I will continue to stay healthy and safe during the labor and delivery.

Thanks so much! We can't wait to share her with everyone!

That's it... I'm charging rent!

Come on!!! Today I went back to my Dr to have my blood pressure checked because I was having a few heart palpitations last night. I didn't think anything of it except I know My Dr was keeping an eye on my BP and I thought it might be affecting that.

So today I met with another Dr that I REALLY like and she checked everything out, my heart rate, lungs and thyroid glands. Everything checked out fine.

She also checked the babies heart rate, 155 bpm which checked out great!

Then she decided to do an exam and see if I've made any progress since Wednesday...

Friday Stats:
Dilation: 2cm (STILL)
Effacement: 80% (STILL)
Station: -1 (STILL)

Seriously? STILL all those things... So she asked if I wanted my membranes stripped again... Uh, I don't know... She was really nice and said it's totally up to you, just giving you the option. Well she was already there so I told her to go for it... Not nearly as bad as the last time.

She said sometimes women's water will break when they do this and in turn that will start the contractions.

We'll see about that!

Next appointment is in 5 days... My due date is in 4 days...

39 Week Appointment (Follow the "Light"!)

Well today was our 39 week appointment... crazy to think I'm actually closer to my due date than the beginning of the week!

Stats:
Weight: Total gained 14 pounds
Blood Pressure: Borderline (Something over 85)
Sugars and Proteins: Negative
Dilated: STILL 2 cm
Effacement: 80%
Station: -1

It was actually one of the quickest appointments of the full exams I've had. My doctor is happy with my weight and thinks I'll weight less than I did pre-pregnancy by the time I leave the hospital (Amen)!

When she did the exam she actually said 1.5 cm... I was like what? I've been 2 cm this whole time?! And she she checked the station she said it felt like she was higher up than last week...

This girl is in trouble, because it appears she has her mom's sense of direction (NONE)!

She did go ahead and strip my membranes, which was SO not fun and then proceeded to tell me that there is a 50% change of me going into labor in the next 24 hours... WHAT?! I all of a sudden couldn't help think of my list and the things I still need to get done...

But wait, doesn't EVERYTHING in life have a 50% chance of happening or not happening? So we'll see, but to be on the safe side everyone is packed and the car seat is installed!

I'm actually really tired and I think I'm going to take a little nap for the first time in like... a year!

We'll keep everyone posted!

38 Week Appointment

Are we there yet?

So I was in hopes with the ultra sound over four weeks ago and the exam just 2 weeks ago... that our miss Georgia would be arriving early. Yeah, NO such luck!

I do however have this awesome last trimester energy! I think I've cleaned this house more time in the last few weeks than I have the whole time we've lived her! I also just finished putting the pack and play together (Oh that was fun!) and it's all ready to go in our room for when we bring her home!

Alright... Appointment details:

Weight: Total gained 14 pounds!
Blood Pressure: High (Oops!)
Sugar/Proteins: Negative
Heart Rate: 142 bpm
Measurement: 37cm
Dilated: 2.5cm (Woopty Doo!)
Effacement: 80%
Station: -1

Boo! I can honestly same I'm a little bummed! I was certain that g dropped more and in turn I would have been dilated at least a 3! But nope, she apparently needs to bake a little longer.

I'm happy that she's healthy and looking good though!

My Dr was cute and she told me I needed to "zen" out a little bit as I walk from the exam room to the chair where they take my blood pressure. She said if it was still high she was going to send me to L&D to get monitored... luckily it drooped some (not ideally where it should have been, but it dropped!).

So one more week of cleaning, organizing, laundry, cooking, cleaning, organizing and my favorite... sleeping in!

37 Week Appointment

Only 3 more of these to go!

Check List:
Weight: lost 2 pounds!
Blood Pressure: Okay
Sugar/Proteins: Nada
Heart Rate: 150
Group B Strep: Negative!

Everything is looking good! She'll probably be making her appearance in the next few weeks! I'm still 2 cm dilated, Not sure if effacement changed (last week I was 80%), and the baby is at a -1 station... which means she has dropped and is ready to make her way into the world!

I asked my Dr. what exactly the different stations mean and she said the higher the negative the higher up she is. And as soon as she gets to 0 it's game time... and usually people don't reach a +1 or +2 till they are in labor... Oh my!

So here is to another week of cleaning, relaxing and sleeping in before miss G comes!

36 Week Appointment

Today I had my 36 week check up the last of the "every other week" and the beginning of the "every week" appointments!

It was pretty eventful this time around, which was nice for a change!

Same routine:
Weight (still at a total of 15 gained)
Blood Pressure (boo, it was boarder line)
Sugar and Protein (Nada)
Heart Rate (all over the place)

Dr. Yost was great and went over the information that the Imaging center sent over. At first she was talking about C Sections and the pros and cons, the whole time I'm thinking I really don't want to have C-Section if it's not needed. Then she said the same thing! She's great and pro "natural deliver" and said she would like to have me go full term (basically whenever Georgia decides it's time to come) and we'll go from there. I love her so much... and all the nurses there, I'm so bringing them See's Chocolate next Wednesday!

They took my blood pressure 3 times over the course of an hour that I was there... I guess it was boarder line every time, but with no sugar or proteins in my urine they dismissed preeclampsia. She did ask if I was feeling okay and if anything has changed...
Umm yeah, both my hubby and I are getting 10% pay cuts, I just switched jobs... oh yeah and we're having a baby anytime now!

She laughed and recommended that i take it easy this next week and just take care of me and miss G. So I start maternity leave on Monday! I'm kind of excited but I also know I'm going to go crazy not really being able to do much!

Georgia's heart rate was 141 at the ultrasound the previous day and I figured it would be somewhere around there today. Nope... she started off at 150, then went to 180 due to her dancing around and then finally after 5 minutes or so it went back down to 160... then 150 then 120. I didn't know if I should have been worried but then my Dr smiled and said watch this... She kind of poked my belly with the wand and boom 145! She said we caught her moving around and then what seemed like she was falling asleep... silly girl!

I did have an exam which I wasn't expecting till next week.. but whatever!
She tested for Strep B and also discovered that I'm 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced.
She was very pleased that there was progress, especially if she is measuring on the bigger side.

So from now on I go in ever week until miss G arrives!

*Miss Georgia, Please if you could just give me one more week to take care of things... I would so appreciate it! Thanks love*

34 Week Appointment

Here we are as in olden days Happy golden days of yore...

Update of miss Georgia at 6 weeks and counting:
Blood pressure: GREAT
Weight: GREAT (total of 12lb. and she is at least 5 of that, thank you!)
Urine Sugars and Protein: Negative
Heart Beat: Wonderful (145 bpm)
Measurement: Umm, 4 weeks AHEAD!

Yeah, so as you can see everything is going wonderful, yet again... another 10 minute appointment that takes me 30 minutes to get to!

Everything checked out... except that miss Georgia is looking like she is on the big side... YIKES!

I'll be going in for an ultrasound in a few weeks for them to just check on how everything is and to see if they can guesstimate her weight.

The measurement can be off due to a number of thing, such as:
Different Dr., she may have measured different than the last (I rotate through 5)
Amniotic fluid is building up (I have been chugging water like a camel)
She's just ginormous and I may be giving birth to a toddler! (Yikes, doesn't sound like fun)
OR... I just REALLY enjoyed the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals... :)

Which ever it may be the Dr. didn't seem worried, she just wanted to double check on position and weight and just to see how things are going before the big day.

I'll keep everyone posted!

Have a fun and safe New Years!!!

32 Week Appointment

Here we are once again...

Another appointment that takes me 30 minutes to get to... and 10 t0 go through. Something is just wrong with that picture. This week I met with the only male Dr. in the practice. Last time John and I met with him together and he and John ended up talking football.

This time... it was all baby (probably because John wasn't there!), and it was no more than 5 minutes long.

Same old, same old... weight (7 lbs. thank you very much!), blood pressure (perfect!), protein test (negative), measured my belly (right on track), and listened to her sweet little heart beat!

He gave me the "talk" about not traveling more that 2 hours from our hospital and if I were to go into labor to go directly to the L&D...

What? Is it that time yet? I'm still 2 months away... how can that be?

Time is flying by and I still have a TON left of my list to do!

Labor and Delivery

Oh yes, what a fun way to end your Monday at work...

All Sunday night my stomach was hurting, sore, achy, normal pregnancy stuff.

This morning I woke up and could barely stand. The day progressed and my stomach was in a constant state of pain. It hurt to stand, sit.. move.

I ignored it for as long as I could until it started to move to my back.

I then called my OB and talked to the receptionist and she said it sounded like I should go to L&D. John and I talked and decided we would wait till after work and also wait to hear back from my Dr.

At 3:30 I called back and talked to Dr. Yost's assistant who said the same thing but also said she would check in with the on call Dr.

I got the call a little before 4 to head over to L&D to get checked out.

My dad was so cute and nervous driving John and I there. I felt so bad because I knew Georgia was fine, she'd been moving around all day. But this pain I was feeling was not what I had been used to.

My mom called as we were pulling in parking lot and said that she wanted to be there.

John and I had walked on a total of 3 WRONG floors until we were finally at the right spot... my dad who parked the car and was going to meet us there... beat us there!

We checked in, filled out paper work... talked to a really sweet security guy who was talking about God and his faith and said that he would pray that our little girl would stay in a little longer. How awesome huh?! I want him to be there when I deliver!

My nurse was really sweet, she got me all set up and checked for proteins, my blood pressure and put on the monitor to see how our baby was doing.

Her heart rate was 140 and she was moving around like no other! I don't think I've ever felt her so much. And every time she moved it would have a noise on the monitor as if she was brushing up against it.

Our nurse said it looked like I may have had a few small contractions but over all was not in labor. Good news right?! EXCEPT for the fact that I was experiencing the worst pain in my stomach about ever 2 minutes. But it's not labor.. so that is good news.

She said we have a very happy and healthy baby growing, which was also encouraging.

I'm taking it easy tonight and going to let John spoil me!

I'll most likely go back in tomorrow and get checked out by my Dr. and see if there is anything we need to address.

So for right now I could use prayer for comfort and continued health for both Georgia and I.

I'll keep everyone posted about tomorrow as things progress.

30 Week appointment

Same old same old...

Weight (total of 6lbs.), blood pressure (looking good!) and listening to the heart rate (150bpm).

She's growing right on track and is moving around a lot more!

I also passed my Glucose Tolerance Test (Praise Jesus!), but also found out I'm a little anemic and need to start taking a over the counter iron pill.. oh happy day! But anything to keep Miss Georgia happy and healthy!

I'm seven weeks this weekend and will be sure to post a picture soon!

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoy the Holiday season!

6th Month Dr. Appointment

And my last... as far as months go. I'm officially going and seeing my Dr. every other week now... I don't know if I have time for that?!

It was a pretty uneventful appointment. Weight, blood pressure (more on this), pee in a cup (sorry), questions and then meet with the Doc.

Weight is great, I've only gained 4 lbs. the whole pregnancy. Obviously this will change in the coming weeks as miss Georgia is packing on the pounds... and in turn so will I.

Blood pressure, usually low... but today, not so much. The nurse said it was borderline and that she wanted to check it again... so she did and it dropped, quite a bit. So who knows what's up with that. But because high blood pressure can cause some serious problems while pregnant, they've got me on close watch and want me to keep an eye out for any signs of
Preeclampsia (VERY serious!). So please pray that it was just a fluke from a very busy and hectic day and nothing serious!

Her heart beat sounds good. Again, very loud... I actually thought it was mine. She's getting to the point where her heart beat sounds actually like a heart beat, not just some fast
swooshing sound.

Like I said, I'm officially in the every other week club, as far as appointments go... that's A LOT when you think about it. Then in January I go to EVERY week... Yikes, if that doesn't put things in fast forward, I don't know what does. Next appointment: Friday, Dec 5th!

Keep on growing and moving Baby G... we can't wait to see you in 2.5 months!

5 Month Dr. Appointment

Everything looks good!

It was a little comical watching the Dr. trying to find the heart beat though. Each appointment before this Georgia has always been really low and pretty much in one spot... but now that she is just a little over a pound (even though I blame her for more) she is starting to pick side of my belly! I can actually feel when she is favoring a side.

It took the Dr. a few minutes to try to get it and chase her down because she was moving... but finally she got it, and it was LOUD! Louder than I have ever heard it, I even asked the Dr. if the volume was turned up, she said nope... it only has one volume! Yikes!

They measured my belly, which I'm two weeks ahead... who knows what that means? Big baby or early deliver... lets hope for the later!

Everything seems to be going well and I get to see my Primary Dr. the next time I go in, which is the week before Thanksgiving!

Thanks for all the prayers to keep our little one safe and growing strong!

Spur Of The Moment Dr.'s Appointment

Just to clarify, everything is fine! I was just having some lovely prego lady symptoms and Dr. Yost wanted me to come in just to check everything out. PLUS, John was able to come and got to hear the heart beat for the first time!!! He was so precious! He had this big grin on his face which made me laugh and of course "lose" the heart beat. I love our Dr. because she is so patient and kept finding it so he could hear it. The last time that I laughed she asked John, do you still want to listen? He said YES!

He's already such a proud daddy!

Fourteen Week Check-Up

Today Grandma Mimi (my mom) and I went to see Dr. Yost for my monthly check-up. It was very quick... they checked my blood pressure, weighed me, and listened to Baby G's heartbeat, which sounded great, and was around 130bpm. We'll see the Dr. again one more time on September 17th and then the Big Ultrasound that checks the anatomy and of course the gender will be on September 25th! Can't wait to see if what we're having!

*Updated* Okay wow, I just realized how prego my belly is getting! I promise to post recent belly pictures soon!

Eleven Week Check-Up

Today we had out second month check up, which equals out for us to be 11 weeks. We were expecting to hear the heart beat, but Dr. Yost pulled in the ultrasound machine instead... hey I rather see my baby than hear it any day... I guess the same will be true after the baby is here!

It was so amazing to see just how much Baby G has grown in less than a month. It looked like a little gummy bear and was at least 10 times the size! (that is my opinion, not those of the Dr.s' or people who really know how big the baby is at 11 weeks.)

Here's a REALLY short video of Baby swimming all over the place.. it's still so surreal.

And this was the picture that Dr. Yost gave us... And as John and I pulling out of the parking lot I shouted STOP, does this look like two?...

Our First Appointment & Ultrasound

Today, at 7.5 weeks along, we had our first ultrasound at Dr. Yost's office. Everything looked great and we could see baby g's little heart beating away at about 120-130 beats per minute. We are so thankful for a healthy little one and are praying for the next 33 weeks!

The big "globe" that looks like the head is actually the yolk sac, it's what feeds the baby till the placenta if fully formed. If you look carefully you can see the head and the "tail" between two tiny plus signs.
