Miss Georgia is one BIG peach!

So today I had my follow up ultra sound to the Dr's appt. where she measured me 4 weeks larger...

Well Drum roll please.....

She's measuring in at 38.5 weeks (I'm 36 weeks yesterday)
She's approx. 8.5 pounds (books say 5.5-6 pounds)
They put her as being due 1/25/09 (She's not due till 2/10/09!)
She TOTALLY has John's nose!
She has chubby chipmunk cheeks
and likes to have her hands up by her face!

This appt. was originally supposed to be 30-45 minutes... it took 2 hours! The techs were great and talked through each thing they were looking at and measuring (way better than my 20 week ultra sound)! One of the techs in the room was still learning so it was kind of cool to hear the terminology and then have them "speak English" and understand what it all meant.

Luckily I have a Dr. appt tomorrow and we'll be able to go through all of this and figure out what's next... I'll keep you all posted!

34 Week Appointment

Here we are as in olden days Happy golden days of yore...

Update of miss Georgia at 6 weeks and counting:
Blood pressure: GREAT
Weight: GREAT (total of 12lb. and she is at least 5 of that, thank you!)
Urine Sugars and Protein: Negative
Heart Beat: Wonderful (145 bpm)
Measurement: Umm, 4 weeks AHEAD!

Yeah, so as you can see everything is going wonderful, yet again... another 10 minute appointment that takes me 30 minutes to get to!

Everything checked out... except that miss Georgia is looking like she is on the big side... YIKES!

I'll be going in for an ultrasound in a few weeks for them to just check on how everything is and to see if they can guesstimate her weight.

The measurement can be off due to a number of thing, such as:
Different Dr., she may have measured different than the last (I rotate through 5)
Amniotic fluid is building up (I have been chugging water like a camel)
She's just ginormous and I may be giving birth to a toddler! (Yikes, doesn't sound like fun)
OR... I just REALLY enjoyed the Thanksgiving and Christmas meals... :)

Which ever it may be the Dr. didn't seem worried, she just wanted to double check on position and weight and just to see how things are going before the big day.

I'll keep everyone posted!

Have a fun and safe New Years!!!

Baby G is a She!

"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works; I know that full well." Psalm 139:14

I can't believe we are half way to meeting out little girl! John and I were both prepared for a little girl, but during the whole pregnancy we both thought boy. The one thing that kept thinking it could be a girl was ALL my dreams were girl and just this last weekend I had my first dream holding my daughter. I'm sure that was God's way of preparing my heart for this sweet little one.
I can't imagine it any other way and we're already so in love with her!

We are so blessed and touched that God would give this wonderful gift to us!

Watching the Clock...

I just wanted to let everyone know that our appointment isn't till 4:15pm... So I won't be able to update until later tonight. Can't wait!!!

Thanks for your understanding,
Monica, John and Baby G

Excited and Anxious!

Tomorrow is the BIG day! I can't believe it's here... and at the same time, it feels like the last 3 weeks have been the longest of my life! I'm so excited to find out just who this little baby is (boy or girl), while also anxious because all of this is starting to feel real and I know that once we find out who Baby G is there is going to be this huge moment of reality. Yes we're pregnant, yes we're going to be parents, yes we're going to have a baby... but there is something about knowing if you're going to have a son or daughter.

John and I have been praying that God prepares our heart as we prepare to bring this baby into our lives. Being that Baby G was a wonderful surprise blessing, the reality that I'm pregnant has been a bit surreal for me. And I having that connection between my son or daughter will make it all the more real.

We're excited and can't wait to start "REALLY" planning for this little one growing inside of me. I promise I'll update the blog tomorrow as soon as we tell our family first... so please be patient while you wait to find out if...

Here is the short cut to some of the Baby G posts. It goes back to everything from when we found out we were pregnant, ultrasound pictures, some videos and the
infamous
belly bump pictures.

First Trimester Ultrascreen

Today we went for our first-trimester Ultrascreen, which is a fairly new screening for Down syndrome and Trisomy 12 and 13. Dr. Yost referred us to Sacramento Maternal Fetal Medicine. Yeah, say that 10 times fast!

The Ultrascreen involves a level 2 ultrasound where the doctor measures the amount of fluid behind the baby's neck and the presence of a nasal bone. I also had blood drawn (my favorite thing!) to test for the amounts of two different hormones produced by the baby. They will put all this information (including my age and our family medical history) into a formula and come up with our baby's probability of having a chromosomal abnormality.
Baby g was sleeping when our Tech first was getting the image... but not for long. This little guy was flipping over from side to side and back to front.

The ultrasound was amazing... Just from last week to this week Baby G actually looks like a person now. Baby G is measuring right on schedule for size, and it's heart rate was 167! He was a little excited, either that or his mommy kept him awake to try to get a good measurement.

*updated* I just noticed that I typed "he" through out... I guess it's just intuition.

This was the starting position... Baby G's head is to the Left, feet to the right, and you can see his little hand waving.

This is after coughing, laughing and a lot of pressure put on my bladder by the Tech to get Baby G to move so she could get a good reading for the NT Scan. Now Baby G's head is to the Right and his little but is up in the air... the Tech didn't really talk all the much during the ultrasound, but as soon as he was bottoms up, she giggled and made me smile! (I think there are some boy parts there...)

This is my favorite picture: Baby G is still in the same position as above but you can see where the eyes are, the cute little nose... and to me it looks like he's smiling!

Eleven Week Check-Up

Today we had out second month check up, which equals out for us to be 11 weeks. We were expecting to hear the heart beat, but Dr. Yost pulled in the ultrasound machine instead... hey I rather see my baby than hear it any day... I guess the same will be true after the baby is here!

It was so amazing to see just how much Baby G has grown in less than a month. It looked like a little gummy bear and was at least 10 times the size! (that is my opinion, not those of the Dr.s' or people who really know how big the baby is at 11 weeks.)

Here's a REALLY short video of Baby swimming all over the place.. it's still so surreal.

And this was the picture that Dr. Yost gave us... And as John and I pulling out of the parking lot I shouted STOP, does this look like two?...

Our First Appointment & Ultrasound

Today, at 7.5 weeks along, we had our first ultrasound at Dr. Yost's office. Everything looked great and we could see baby g's little heart beating away at about 120-130 beats per minute. We are so thankful for a healthy little one and are praying for the next 33 weeks!

The big "globe" that looks like the head is actually the yolk sac, it's what feeds the baby till the placenta if fully formed. If you look carefully you can see the head and the "tail" between two tiny plus signs.
